Lloyd F. Mitchell's Obituary
Lloyd F. Mitchell, 87,(formerly of Nunica) passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 in Grand Haven, MI. He was born on May 9, 1919 to John c. and Mildred (Burchard) Mitchell in Syracuse, NY; and married Mary Rita Larkin on April 26, 1952. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1999.
Mr. Mitchell attended American University and Georgetown Law School.
He was a highly decorated WWII Veteran, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross among other honors while serving with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.
He pursued diversified and successful careers as an FBI Agent with the Department of Justice in Washington, DC; Vice-President of Greyhound Van Lines in Chicago, IL and as an independent business owner in Muskegon, MI. Mr. Mitchell was an avid environmentalist and outdoorsman.
He is survived by five children: Lynne Nii of Costa Mesa, CA; Beth (Jim Palma) Mitchell of Spring Lake; Sherry (Richard Vissar) Mitchell of Grand Haven; John (Karen) Mitchell of Moss Point, MS; and Kathy Czinder of Nunica; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three siblings: Mildred Dunk of Leesburg, FL; Leland Mitchell of Camillus, NY; and John C. Mitchell of Forestport, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette McGarvey.
A private service will be held September 1, 2006. Interment will be at Crockery Township Cemetery.
