Loa Vandervelde's Obituary
Loa Vandervelde, age 86, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born May 20, 1936 in Cutcheon, MI to Russell and Gertrude (Kern) VanBrocklin and lived in the area since 1954. Loa worked over 20 years as a trust officer for Comerica Bank and retired in 2000. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, the Red Hatters, and the Tuesday Sewers Group. Loa loved nature and the outdoors and especially enjoyed her flower gardening. Survivors include 2 brothers, Keith (Kathleen) VanBrocklin, Gary VanBrocklin; 2 sisters, Vicki Osburn, Jane (Earl) Seelye; 1 brother-in-law, Mark Rousell; 1 sister-in-law, Jackie VanBrocklin; the “grandchildren of her heart”, Rebecca (Alex Yosa) Avila, Brendan (Gabrielle) Avila, Ryan Avila, Kelly Avila, Anna Avila, Megan Avila; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Kruzona; her parents, Russell and Gertrude VanBrocklin; 2 brothers, Raymond and Dale VanBrocklin; and 4 sisters, Janice Smeaton, Avis Neilsen, Kay Rousell, and Vee Vannette. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 31, 2022 at Calvary Bible Church (4617 Grand Haven Road) with Pastor Ed Arndt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place on her birthday in 2023 at Stittsville Cemetery.
