Mrs. LoAnn Oudsema's Obituary
Mrs. LoAnn Oudsema, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2013. She was born April 16, 1929 in Conklin, MI to Lloyd and Birdus (Newton) Emmons. On October 9, 1953 she married Donald J. Oudsema and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1994. LoAnn worked in the family business, Henry’s Food Fair in North Muskegon, with her husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law for 35 years. She also worked for Fox Jewelers for several years. She was a charter member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, where she was still active. LoAnn was an active member of Widows Together and was an usher at the Frauenthal Center. She enjoyed traveling anywhere and everywhere with her family or on bus trips with friends. She also loved bowling, golfing (always walking), baking, and shopping. But most importantly, our mother was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. SURVIVORS include her son, Steve (Jean) Oudsema; daughter, Lori (Greg) VanBoxel; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth), Bonnie (fiance’, Nicholas McGill), Shawn (Maggie Weinert), Andrew (Jennifer White), Leah, and Lucas; 2 great-grandchildren, Violet and Lily; sister-in-law, Ruth Elaine Emmons; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, LeeAnn Oudsema in 1959 and her brother, Donald Emmons. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2013 at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church (1568 W. Giles Rd., N. Muskegon 49445) with the Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or Laketon Bethel Reformed Church will be appreciated.
