Lois May "Pepsi" Coston, age 94, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. She was born July 7, 1926, in Spring Lake, to Sydney and Clara (Sharpe) Farrer, and she married Michael Lee Read Obituary
Dear Kim, Farr, Casey and Sam - your mom was such a cool person, how lucky you guys were to have had her in your lives for such a nice long life. Tempe was right that your mom was so loving to all of you, and to all of your friends. She had the coolest clothes, great hats, always looked fabulous, even at 90+ years. I think the way you all cared for her as she grew older was really wonderful. She raised you well. Take care,

I will always be gratefu for the fun and adventure she brought to my life through my friendship with Kim.
Thanks to Pepsi and my mother, Kim and I were able to ride our horses almost every day, which were stabled a goodly distance away. No matter the weather and likely a pile of things to do elsewhere, they drove to DeWitt's to drop us off, and then came back later to pick us up. Over and over and over without complaint.
I enjoy many fond memories of the Costons and remember thinking what an attractive family they were. I loved Pepsi's clothes, her frosted hair, and her bright blue eyes. She was the coolest mom in the neighborhood. She and the Coston entourage made the house a magnet for neighborhood kids to hang out. Appletree Lane would not have been the same without them. Thank you, Pepsi, for all you did to help make my childhood special.

Our Mother Suzie is one of Pepsi's Greatest Fans as well as a Sister-in-law and a fellow Coston (the youngest Sister to Michael).
Their Family has ALWAYS kept in contact with ours despite the great distance between our locales. It is a true testament to Pepsi's Love and Dedication to all of her Family and Friends. We have been truly blessed and now We share Pepsi with the angels.

There are people who pass through our lives and make it better. Pepsi was one of those people.Pepsi was my maternal aunt. As kids, we cousins ran like a pack through the woods on Appletree Lane. As a fourth grader, our assignment was to write a paper on the person you admired most. I proudly proclaimed, “I want to be just like my Aunt Pepsi!”
She was always arranging flowers and she made our sandwiches out of HOME MADE bread! “ As adults, we always lived within a mile of each other. It was so easy to stop by with flowers or flavored coffee just to catch up. Later I wanted more. I wanted to learn more about our family and I wanted to soak up all the sunshine that Pepsi radiated.We picked Monday at 5:00. For years, we never missed.There was always so much good energy - classical music, beautiful antiques, fabrics, kitschy artwork, flowers...all arranged with her knack for style and decorating. She always had my favorite beer in a frosted mug and I brought her flavored coffee. Surrounded by beauty, we would solve the simplest conundrums or fix the world’ woes- with her practical sage wisdom. Every thought of Pepsi brings a smile to my face. She was class, and “Style with a Smile.” I will forever stop at Monday at 5:00 to salute this wonderful friend and extraordinary woman.

Pepsi understood the kids and had an ease around us which, in hindsight, was AMAZING considering the stunts that were going on in the background ... ok, well, maybe in the foreground, too. A kind and engaging "mom" who was a hoot to sit with at one of the many events at the Coop --- a classy menagerie that reflected her very broad appreciation of the beautiful, the curious, and just plain fun things in life. I knew your mom since I was a little kid, as my mom also worked at Ad Lib/Reichardt’s back in the day. Her style was obvious even to a child, but so was her genuine kindness and sense of fun. Her stunning garden inspires me to this day as I work on my own. My sincere condolences to you all.

Reading the obituary, I can’t help but be impressed with how correctly she was honored in the tribute. Being a neighbor, I was very influenced by everything that Pepsi did. Her adorable laugh, her mothering, her wonderful decorating... all left an indelible mark on me. I loved going to babysit at the “chicken coop” because when the house was quiet, I could study what made everything so beautiful—-the dishes, the French table cloths, the creative use of fabrics... I later collected many things that reminded me of Pepsi. I am so sad to not have her in this world but she will always be in my heart. I send my love and condolences to all the family.
