Mrs. Lois "June" Dean's Obituary
Mrs. Lois “June” Dean, 92, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2016, in Muskegon. She was born April 19, 1924 to C. Henry and Mary Lena (Sprague) Schramm in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to the Muskegon area when she was 8 years old. She was the bookkeeper for Northshore Ace Hardware for 34 years before retiring in 1989, and prior to that she worked at Anaconda. She was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 72 years. She also belonged to the United Methodist Women, the Celebration Singers, the Greater Muskegon Womans Club, and TOPS 043. June was a Muskegon High School graduate of the Class of 1941, where she served as the class historian for many years. On June 19, 1948 June married George F. Dean, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2010. Survivors include 5 children, Linda Roberts, Wendy (Roy) Johnson, Kevin (Ann) Dean, Gregory (Patricia) Dean, Timothy (Mary) Dean; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Doris (Theodore) Elwell; and special friend, Dennis Shafer. June was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Dennis Dean; and son-in-law, Alfred Roberts. A service to celebrate June’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 8, at Central United Methodist Church, 1011 Second St., with Rev. Mark Miller officiating.
