Lois Florence Guis' Obituary
Guis, Lois (nee Gjeltema).
Our sweet mother, grandmother, and great grandmother now lives with joy in the presence of her Savior and her dear husband, Bob.
Lois knit together a life of courage, resilience, and quiet strength while raising her children after the sudden loss of Bob, with whom she shared a busy life in far-flung places in the name of Christian education. She taught us all to be resourceful, creative, and strong in the face of challenges. Her quiet and steady faith surrounded her at all times and provided an example for those of us who knew her best.
She will be forever missed and is survived by her children Becky (Les), Beth (Frank), Chris, Paula (Duane), and Michael (Leah); her grandchildren Kimberly, Keith, Lauren, Kyle, Luke, Ethan, Benjamin, and Madeline, and 5 great grandchildren as well as her brother, Stuart (Wilma) Gjeltema. Many called her “Aunt Lois” and they mourn her loss as well. She was preceded in death by her dear Robert and brothers Hap, Ray, Rich, Bert, Peter, Harold, Bill, Hank and her sister Flo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Whitinsville Christian School. A private burial will take place and a celebration of her life will occur at a later time.
Arrangements through The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI. 49444. Please consider signing the family's online guestbook and share memories at sytsemafh, com
