Lois Schrier's Obituary
Mrs. Lois Schrier, age 89, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at home. She was born September 8, 1926 in Grand Haven to Aaron John, Jr. and Grace (Arkema) Nyland. On August 7, 1948 she married Raymond Schrier in Spring Lake and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2010.
Lois was a graduate of Grand Haven High School class of 1948. She received her Cadet Nurse Core Registered Nurse Degree from the Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. At the age of 50 she enrolled in the pioneer class of Nurse Practitioners at the University of Michigan. Her career included working as a hospital, private duty, county health, substance abuse and State of Michigan Special Education Nurse.
She is survived two daughters, Sue (Christopher) Bancroft of Argyle, TX, and their children, Chris, Jr., Brooke and Lauren; Dr. Jan (Dr. Michael) Streicher and their son, David of Columbus, OH; two sons, Norman Schrier of Spring Lake, and his children, Kimberlee (Paul) Hovey and Jason Schrier; Wesley (Andrea) Schrier of Comstock Park, and their children, Stephanie and Daniel (Amber) Schrier; nieces and nephews: John (Marie) Fisher, Barbara (Tom) Happel, John, Jr. (Robin) Nyland, and James (Rupal) Nyland. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ross; sister, Willamean Fisher; brother, John A. Nyland.
A private family service will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Lois may be given to Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post 28 Women’s Auxiliary. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
