Lois M. VanDyke's Obituary
Lois M. VanDyke, age 74, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born May 27, 1949 in Shelby, MI to Russell and Marie (Osborne) Ramsey. Lois graduated from Montague High School in 1967 and went on to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from the Hackley School of Nursing in 1969. She worked 41 years as a nurse for Mercy Hospital, the majority of these years spent as a Cardiovascular Technician. She was an asset to the Cath lab department and prided herself in her scheduling, scrubbing, and training skills. On June 2, 1972, she married John D. VanDyke in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2020. Lois enjoyed camping and traveling, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. SURVIVORS include two daughters: Heather (Jason) Earl of Twin Lake and Dr. Michelle VanDyke of North Muskegon; three grandchildren: Zachary (Ashley Maner) Zelsdorf, Levi and William Topp; brother, Ronald Adema of Birmingham, AL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of life will be held for Lois at 11:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 and also one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated. Lois’ family would like to thank the amazing team at Trinity Health ICU for the outstanding care she received and the wonderful support offered to her family during this difficult time.
