Lois A. Weesies' Obituary
Mrs. Lois A. Weesies, age 81, of Montague passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Grand Rapids. She was born October 22, 1933 in Grand Rapids to Barney and Delia (Fynewever) Roeters. After her mother died when she was five years old, her dad married Clara Koster who became her mom. Lois was a member of New Era Christian Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Golden Hour, sang in the choir, and had served as a GEMS counselor. She was also a volunteer for many activities at New Era Christian School. She loved to travel, but most of all she loved being with her family and friends. On October 22, 1970, she married Calvin Weesies in Grand Rapids and he survives her along with one son, Alan (Amy) Weesies of Montague; one granddaughter, Emma Weesies; two brothers, Richard (Joan) Roeters and Jerry (Julie) Roeters; special cousin, Sandy Keift; in-laws: Char Betten, Don (June) Weesies, Ellen Johnson, Fran Weerstra, Dave (Barb) Weesies, and Ken Weesies; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law: Tony Betten, Don Johnson, and Dave Weerstra. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at New Era Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Greg Dyk officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, February 10 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey, 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague. Memorial contributions in memory of Lois may be given to New Era Christian School.
