Lois Mae Wierenga's Obituary
Lois Mae Wierenga, age 92, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born September 23, 1931, in Muskegon to Henry and Angie (Lenting) Palsrok and had been a life resident of the area. Lois went to Muskegon Christian School until 6th grade and graduated from Muskegon High School. On November 5, 1953, she married Harvey L. Wierenga in Muskegon and celebrated 70 years of marriage together. She was a member of Laketon Bethel Church where she sang in the choir and had been a Sunday School teacher. Lois had worked as a secretary for a local insurance company, helped serve lunches at Reeths-Puffer Middle School, was a Girl Scout Leader, and loved to bowl, bowling on several leagues over the years at Northway Lanes. Lois and Harvey enjoyed to travel and wintered in Florida for many years. While in Florida, she also sang in the choir at the local church near their park in Okeechobee. Lois will be missed by all who knew her. SURVIVORS include her husband, Harvey; two children: Patricia (Richard) Knight and Bill Wierenga both of Muskegon; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Kuiper of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Michael and Robert Wierenga; and two brothers: Maurice and Bud Palsrok. A graveside service for Lois will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 2, 2024 at Laketon Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
