Lois Yungton's Obituary
Evelyn “Lois” Yungton, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Spring Lake, MI. She was born on July 24, 1929, to George and Evelyn (Wrighton) Bamford, in Detroit, MI. Lois was a loving wife and married for almost 54 years to the late Wilbert “Will” A. Yungton; a dearest mother of Ann Robinson, John (Diann) Yungton, and Jane (James) Word; proud grandmother of Kelly and Sean Crawford; and fascinated great-grandmother of Sloane.
Will and Lois exemplified a oneness in their marriage, relying on God’s direction and love. Being together in person, in thought and action, was their strength. Lois loved to travel with Will, visiting friends and relatives in the United States and Great Britain. She had three sisters, Ruth Bamford, and the late Jessie Soper and Beatrice Stucky; and brother, George Bamford, who was killed in action during World War II, when she was only 13.
Lois was an ideal homemaker, an excellent cook and baker, and a talented seamstress, making clothes for herself and her children. She also enjoyed doing handcrafts like cross-stitching, quilting and home décor projects. She volunteered at her church, Highland Park Baptist, in Southfield, MI and helped organize and decorate for special events and dinners. Lois was an avid reader, played dominoes, enjoyed puzzles, coloring and hymn sing-a-longs.
The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456) is honored to be serving the Yungton family.
