Mrs. Lona M. Grenell's Obituary
Mrs. Lona Grenell passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Harbor Hospice Poppen House with loving family by her side. She was born on September 7, 1940 to Tony and Wilma (Gerencer) Slamkowski and married Larry Grenell on December 1, 1962. Lona graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1958 and Muskegon Community College (later) after the kids were raised, with an LPN II Degree. Our family would like to thank Hackley Hospital ICU nurse ‘Sally’ for all the compassionate care she gave our Mom and RN ‘Julie’ at Poppen Hospice for all the help and care she and staff gave our Mom. Thank you so much. Survivors include her husband, Larry Grenell; daughter, Lisa (Bob) Griffin, son, Larry Grenell Jr. (Duke to most everyone), and daughter, Lora Hagstrom; sister, Karen Slamkowski; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ruth Grenell; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM Monday, March 16 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, March 15 from 2-4PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Vikings Lodge #57 Burn Camp Donor or Harbor Hospice Foundation, Poppen Residence.
