Mrs. Longura "Ray" Kirk's Obituary
Longura Kirk (Ray), age 78, passed away on Oct 16, 2015. Ray (one of 8 children) was born on June 9, 1936 in Columbia, MS to Cicero and Lucille Butler. In 1970 she married James Kirk Sr. and moved to Muskegon MI. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at The Muskegon Regional Center for 18 years prior to retirement in 1993. She was very proud to be a nurse. Ray was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for 44 years and was a part of their Senior Ushers Ministry. She was also a member of the Tops group and State of Michigan Retirees group. She loved collecting things, cooking and being with her family and friends. Ray was a helpful, generous, strong-willed, humorous woman of God who will be deeply missed. Ray is survived by her husband James Kirk Sr.; sons, James Jr., Ricky, Dennis, David, and Tommy Kirk; daughters, Monica (Nathan) Ingram, and Karen Wynne; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and her brother, Dave (Catherine) Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons, Donald, Larry, and Ronnie Butler; daughter, Mavis Kirk; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday October 24, 2015 at 12 noon at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
