Lonnie R. Mears Sr.'s Obituary
Lonnie Ray Mears Sr, age 70, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Friday, March 27, 2026. Lonnie was born in Saginaw, MI, on November 9, 1955, to Ray and Mary (Knapp) Mears. He worked for many years at Port City Signs, where he was a valued employee. On April 29, 1994, he married the former Linda Glore, and the two of them spent 32 wonderful years together.
Lonnie was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He was extremely handy and took a lot of pride in taking care of his own home, there was no task that he could not handle. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was taking care of his lawn, working in his garden, fishing, or working on a car. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and listening to old country music and classic rock. He was a jolly man who was serious when he needed to be, and he always stood firm in his beliefs when he knew he was right.
Lonnie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; four children: Lonnie (Joanna) Mears Jr, Katrina Jackson, Angela Mears, and Tony Mears; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister and three stepsiblings; and longtime best friend, Tom Sladick. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Per Lonnie’s request there will be no public services held, but in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
