Lonnie Joe Herrera's Obituary
Mr. Lonnie Joe Herrera, age 77, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his home. He was born November 27, 1933 in Jourdanton, Texas to Filiberto and Casimira (Casarez) Herrera and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He worked 36 years for CWC-Textron Foundry and retired as an auditor in 1990. On August 31, 1957, he married the former Isabel Gonzalez in Muskegon and she survives him. He was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and golfing. SURVIVORS include his wife, Isabel; 1 son, Brian (Gina) Ross of Wyoming; 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Julian, and Callie; 1 brother, Fil (Sharon) Herrera of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Janie (Ray) Santos of Muskegon, Angie (Juan) Cano of California; 2 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law, Janie (Ernest) Garcia, Elena (Frank) Cavazos, Bernie (Gloria) Gonzalez, Jesse Espinoza; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his fishing buddy, Jim, and co-worker, Frank. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 12:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2011 at St. Jean de Baptiste Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. VISITATION will take place one hour prior to the Mass. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the Veterans of VFW Post 446.
