Lora M. DeRuiter (Shaw)'s Obituary
Lora M. DeRuiter (Shaw), age 74, met her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 31, 2023 after courageously battling. She was born on September 22, 1948, to Theos and Velma (Field) Shaw in Muskegon, MI and remained a lifelong resident in the home she grew up in. Lora graduated from Orchard View High School class of 1966. She then continued her education in nursing at Hackley Hospital. Lora dedicated 39 years between Mercy General Hospital and Oak Medi Center, where she worked as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) before retiring in 2013. Lora was a generous and kind woman by nature, which made her excel with ease in her career. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, playing video games, and shopping, especially shopping! She loved making her way up North to spend time outdoors camping and seeing the Mackinaw bridge. Above all, Lora cherished the moments spent with her family, especially those spent with her grandchildren. She lived her life with a heart filled with love for anyone and everyone. Lora was always willing to help with no questions asked. She was the person you could turn to in your time of need, knowing she would support you in any way she could. Lora will always be remembered as a loving mother, doting grandma and great-grandma, wonderful sister and dear friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four children, Raymond (Becky) Perry Jr., Angie (Mike) Rivenbark, Greg (Nichole) Perry and Jennifer (Curtis) Cooper; nine grandchildren, Steven (Angie) Perry, Jonathon Perry, Katelynn Perry, Khloe Perry, Breanna Perry, Olivia Rivenbark, Brayden Perry, Chase Perry and baby Ian Cooper who is on the way; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden Perry and Bailey Perry.
