Loraine Gladys Balogh's Obituary
Loraine Gladys Balogh passed away on November 24, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Christian Care Nursing Center just shy of her 90th Birthday. Loraine was born on New Year’s Eve 1923 to Ray and Katherine Berggren. She shared a birthday with a son, granddaughter, and great granddaughter to make four generations of New Year’s Eve birthdays. In 1945 she married Steve Balogh and together they were blessed with 9 children. They enjoyed their time together and raising their children. They spent many summers camping and traveling with the children. She loved reading, quilting, sewing, playing dominos and spending time with her family and talking politics. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, was on the Altar Society at Sacred Heart, and tutored a reading program for children at McLaughlin School. Loraine was a strong-willed, determined, creative individual who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her 9 children, Judi Harris, Colleen (Richard) O’Neal, Steve (Anita) Balogh, Mary (Kris) Johnson, Ron Balogh, Anita Balogh, Paul (Norma) Balogh, Barbara Chandler, and Matthew Balogh; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister Barbara (Norman) Dodson; sister-in-law Rose Sibley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve; grandson, Patrick O’Neal; parents; brothers, Carl and Ralph Berggren. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Matthew Barnum officiating. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS can be made Our Lady of Grace or Christian Care.
