Ms. Loretta J. Butts' Obituary
Ms. Loretta J. Butts, age 66, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1955 to Johnnie and Willie Mae (Carson) Butts in Muskegon, MI and has remained a resident most of her life. After graduating from Muskegon Heights high school in 1973, she attended Muskegon Community College, where she earned an associates degree. Loretta had a life mission she began at the early age of 17. She dedicated her life to helping developmentally ill individuals with everyday life. She started as a social worker at the Regional Center and dedicated 20 years before it closed. She then began working in Grand Rapids for a few years, before making her way to the Ducey Home, where she worked as an assistant manager for many years. Loretta truly enjoyed being able to lend a hand whenever she could to those in need. She had a heart filled with unconditional love for just about anyone that crossed her path. Loretta was a kind and generous woman by nature, devoting herself to aide others. She was also a woman of many hobbies! She enjoyed crossword puzzles, computer games, and shooting pool. She also had a love for listening to jazz music, singing with her family, and playing the guitar. Above all things, she loved her family whole heartedly. They meant the world to her and she loved showering her nieces and nephews with affection. Loretta looked forward to Saturday nights spent with her sisters, watching on demand, singing and praising God together. She was a woman of faith and enjoyed reading her Bible. Loretta will always be remembered for her bubbly personality and genuine love for so many. She is survived by her 5 sisters, Jacqueline (Herman) Stapples, Ethel Gordon, Corliss (Clifton III) Foster, Mari (Freddie) Walker and Mary White; brother, Randolph Holt; 2 sisters-in-law, JoAnne Butts and Nora Butts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Willie Mae Butts; sister, Johnnie Mae Butts; 5 brothers, Charles Holt, Walter L. Butts, Herbert F. Butts, Alvin L. Butts and Willie M.
