Loretta Mae Hoebeke's Obituary
Loretta Mae (Green) Hoebeke was born on February 5, 1929, to Mildred (Pittman) and Arthur Green in Grand Haven, MI. She graduated in 1946 from Grand Haven High School and took extra art classes from Cora Edge in 1947.
Loretta married Jack Henry Hoebeke in April of 1948. They built their own home with the help of Loretta's father, Arthur Green. Together they had five children; John, Janet, Jay, Jeff and Lu Ann. Loretta worked in retail for several years and also worked as an assistant at several local pre-schools. She also was a childcare giver at United Methodist Church of the Dunes. Loretta and her husband, Jack, were charter members of Trinity Reformed Church. She enjoyed walking, reading, gardening and Monday morning breakfasts with her good friend, Montez Hodges. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; brother, Raymond Green; sister, Dorothea Shaver; her parents and in-laws along with her very good friend, Montez Hodges.
Loretta is survived by her children: John (Elena) Hoebeke of San Bruno, CA, Janet (John) Fowler of St. Joseph, MI, Jay (Julia) Hoebeke of Muskegon, MI, Jeffrey (Gwen) Hoebeke of Shepherdstown, WV and Lu Ann (Mark) Bethke of Grand Haven, MI. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jennifer, Audrey, Jill, Cori, Amanda, Tyler, Jessie, Jacob, Angela, Allyson, Abigail, Caitlin, Hayden, Lindsey and Tamara; sister-in-law, Pat Green; 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; longtime friend, Edith Lemke and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in Loretta’s honor can be directed to the Grand Haven Community Foundation Fund (Bertha M. Fase Memorial Scholarship Fund-Educational) or Hospice of North Ottawa Community. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Lakeshore Cemetery.
