Loretta Rose Stressman's Obituary
Even against her better judgement, with the hurricane of ‘92 or earthquake of ‘94, Loretta Rose Stressman’s children and grandchildren still ventured across America to follow their dreams. The profound singer-songwriter even wrote prophetic ballads about her children’s adventures. As for herself, the winter of 2018 wasn’t going to keep her out of the arms of her Heavenly Father. On the morning of March 14, 2018 at the age of 73, Loretta rose from the side of her husband Doug and daughter Vivian to ascend on a new adventure where new songs will be sung. She was born June 8, 1944 in Muskegon to Jerome and Frances (Overkamp) Camastos. On June 11, 1960, she married the love of her life, Doug Stressman in Fruitport, MI. They celebrated 57 wonderful years together. Loretta and her husband pastored at River of Life Assembly of God. She was very involved with the worship team and children’s ministries. Through the years, Loretta and her husband were also active in Prison Ministries, the Rescue Mission, and Teen Challenge. The family remembers her as a fantastic seamstress, music composer, and singer-songwriter. Loretta was the beloved wife of Doug; cherished mother of 7 children: Bonnie (Don) Franklin of Lakeland, FL, Timothy (Theresa) Stressman, Fred Bear (Colleen) Stressman, Vivian (Duane) Cook all of Muskegon, MI, Michelle (Cory) Grawbarger of Big Rock, TN, Christopher Stressman of Wintergarden, FL, Gretchen (Danny) Heller of Whitehall, MI; devoted grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister to Dale (Heather) Hagen of Mears, MI; sister to Christine Hagen-Galloway of Muskegon, MI; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Richard Franklin. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at River of Life Assembly of God (1520 E. Broadway Ave.) with Pastor Verne Wright officiating. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening, March 20, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210.
