Mrs. Lorraine J. (Degner) Wells' Obituary
Mrs. Lorraine J. (Degner) Wells, 98, passed away Thursday evening, February 9, 2017 in Muskegon. She was born January 21, 1919 to Frederick and Mary (Sporleder) Fishtorn in Winamac, IN, and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. She had worked at the Norge, was a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, was a member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, and was a Past Worthy Matron and life member of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at the former General Hospital, loved going to the casino, playing card games, exercising, walking and riding her bike. She was married to Carl Degner, and he preceded her in death. She married James V. Wells, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1993. Survivors include 4 children, Richard (Vivian) Degner of VA, JoAnn (Don) Evans - Everett of CA, Wayne (Debbie) Degner of Muskegon, Patti (Dan) Wilkinson of Spring Lake; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; several step-grand and step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirlie Degner; a grandson, Dale Degner; 5 brothers and sisters; and a step-son, Dr. James Wells. Services for Mrs. Wells will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 11 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service..
