Lorraine M. Hopka's Obituary
Lorraine M. Hopka, age 97, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Hume Home where she resided. Lorraine was born September 21, 1921 in Grand Rapids, MI to Anthony L. and Sophia (Dutkiewicz) Mazurkiewicz and lived in the Muskegon area since childhood. She married Phillip A. Hopka on July 27, 1943 and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1988. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Vikings Linne Lodge #57 for many years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved watching Tiger Woods play golf. She is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanne Hasenbank, Diane (Raymond) Shaw; 2 grandchildren, Adam Shaw, Emily (Chris) Halloran; 4 great-grandchildren, Shaw, Vann, Wren, and Ford Halloran. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 son-in-law, Bruce Hasenbank, and 1 sister, Rita Sander. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, May 6, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (150 E. Summit) with Rev. Fr. Philip A. Shangraw presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM in the Victor Miller Room at Sacred Heart. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Viking’s Scholarship Fund, Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation, or Hospice of Michigan. Arrangements handled by The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W.
