Mrs. Lorraine Dorothy Nowak's Obituary
Mrs. Lorraine Dorothy Nowak, age 82, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Grand Haven. She was born in Erie, PA on September 16, 1929 to Robert and Margaret (Call) Gay and had lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. After raising her family, Mrs. Nowak worked as a switchboard operator for the Muskegon Chronicle before retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and loved gardening. On September 4, 1948, Lorraine married John Richard Nowak in Muskegon, MI and he survives her along with 6 children, John “Jack” (Gussie) Nowak , Steven (Mary Jo) Nowak, Kenneth (Amy) Nowak, and Christine Nowak, all of Norton Shores, Mary Jane (Kim Schachinger) Nowak of Farmington Hills, and Robert Nowak of West Olive; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Nowak; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Dan (Shelley) Chambers of Grandville; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friend, Marge Butler. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph J. Nowak in 2006; her parents; 2 brothers, James and Robert Gay; and 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Gay and Betty Gay. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (920 Fulton St., Grand Haven, MI 49417) with Rev. Fr. William A. Langlois presiding. VISITATION will be from 3-5 PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565, and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation or Muskegon County Child Abuse Council would be appreciated.
