Lorraine D. Wolffis' Obituary
Mrs. Lorraine D. Wolffis, age 93, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Norton Shores. She was born on November 1, 1924 in Muskegon to William and Genevieve (Cleveland) Stevens, and resided in the area her entire life. Lorraine worked as a switchboard operator at Continental Motors for several years, before retiring in 1951. She was a member of Allen Ave. Christian Reformed Church, and volunteered at Muskegon Christian School as the librarian for 10 years. Lorraine sewed, knitted and crocheted. She loved cooking, playing scrabble, entertaining over the holidays, but most of all enjoyed her grandchildren. On September 16, 1948, she married James O. “Jim” Wolffis, and together celebrated 66 years of marriage, before Jim preceded her in death on December 25, 2014. SURVIVORS include two daughters, Lisa (David) Carlson and Kara Bouwman both of Spring Lake; two grandchildren, David (Hayden) Carlson and Jennie (Jared) Johnson; and special great grand dog, Stella. Lorraine was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Ann Gundy; two brothers, James and Jack Stevens; and two sisters, Gloria Hoekenga, and Elsa Shugars. Lorraine’s family would like to thank Seminole Shores for the wonderful care they gave their mother, along with Cathy, Judy and Deb from Hospice of Michigan. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11AM Saturday, March 3, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Benjamin Oliveira officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan will be appreciated.
