Lorraine M. Edwards' Obituary
Lorraine Margaret Edwards went to be with her Lord and Savior, January 7, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. Lorraine will join her husband Earl who preceded her in death in 1976. She will also be with her father, Samuel Wymer, her sister, Beatrice Welch, mother-in-law, Irene Edwards, and her special son-in-law, Dennis (Wolf) Smith. Lorraine was born January 11, 1931 to Samuel and Eva Wymer in the Orchard View area, but ran with the East Broadway crew. She met her husband Earl at an Armory dance and they married on July 16, 1949. Together they raised 5 children, all of whom survive them, and numerous foster children over a 50 year span. They lived in Egelston Twp. for over 50 years. Lorraine was active in the local Church of God churches for 30 years, but most recently was an active member of the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. For years Lorraine has done volunteer work, including the Every Woman’s Place cancer hotline and the career center, she was a driver for the Department of Social Services and delivered food for the area food pantries. She was a school bus driver for Mona Shores Schools for 15 years until her retirement in 1993. Lorraine loved to travel all over the world, often traveling with her dear friend, Ruthy Percey, who was with her to the end. She also spent everyday with the early morning Coffee Clutchers, whom she will miss. Lorraine leaves behind her children: Michael (Sherry) Edwards, Merclyn (Dennis) Smith, Debra (Carlo) Combs of St. Petersburg, FL, Christine (Rodney) Blamer, and Lisa (Jeff) Lohman. Two brothers, Samuel (Dawn) and Richard (Rosemary) Wymer, as well as her mother, Eva. Three grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Chappell, Eric (Sylvia) Edwards, Jennifer (Jack) Blessman, and her pride and joy, her 7 great-grandchildren, Alexander and Kellen Chappell, Brandon, Alec, and Cameron Edwards, Kaitlyn and Nathan Blessman. Lorraine had an extended family, Gladys (Jerry) Woodyard, Norma (Bernie) Downs, Denise (Mick) McIntyre, Nancy Paul, Louis Bugbee, Cordie (Rick) Patterson, Alice Woodard, and her grandpets, Clod, Shana, and Piggy, who always made her brag, as well as a host of other people she loved and appreciated. A thank you goes to Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana who helped with her care and comfort in her last weeks. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Saturday at
