Louis G. Bodnar Sr.'s Obituary
Louis G. Bodnar Sr., age 87, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was born on April 18, 1935 to Louis and Margaret (Kresnak) Bodnar in Muskegon Heights, MI. He graduated from Muskegon Heights high school and enlisted soon after. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. In 1956, Louis married the love of his life, Hildagard Baer in Germany. She preceded him in death in 1986. He was a dedicated employee of Ford Motor Company where he worked as a Senior designer before retiring in 1996. Louis was an outdoorsman at heart enjoying both hunting and fishing. He enjoyed feeding the local deer and birds as well. He was also an avid golfer and football fanatic. Occasionally, you could find him pressing his luck at the casino enjoying a cigar. He was known to many as “Cigar Luigi”. He was a vivacious and outgoing spirit who never knew a stranger. He was a friendly man that loved life and his country. He will genuinely be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his 3 children, Sylvia (Uwe) Klemm, Louis Bodnar Jr and Steven (Rondi) Bodnar; stepdaughter, Claudia (Don) Siddall; 7 grandchildren, Jerry, Kaitlyn, Dominic, Shane, Evelyn, Nick and Kyra. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Caroline McClain; and 2 brothers, Robert Bodnar and Eugene Bodnar. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A visitation with the family will be held from 5-8:00 PM on Friday, June 10, 2022 at The Lee Chapel with a rosary at 5:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at St. Marys Cemetery.
