Mr. Louis Kleyn's Obituary
Mr. Louis Kleyn, age 80, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on October 12, 1935 to Dewey and Jeannette (Smalligan) Kleyn and was a life-resident of the area. Louis had worked at Shaw-Walker for 40 years before his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an elder. He enjoyed singing and was a skilled woodworker. On June 15, 1956, Louis married the former Dorothy J. Lewis and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2009. He is survived by three children, Gary (Shari) Kleyn, Cheryl (Barry) Searles, and Carolyn (Tom) Taylor; one daughter-in-law, Sherrie Wright; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Karen) Kleyn; one sister, Carol (Robert) Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Betty Kleyn and Deedee Kleyn; brother-in-law, Glen Buitendorp; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Louis was preceded in death by his son, Paul Kleyn (2015); his parents; four brothers, Don Kleyn, Dewey Kleyn, Jr., Dirk Kleyn and Peter Kleyn and two sisters, Marie Boettcher and Lucille Buitendorp. Louis’ MEMORIAL SERVICE HYMN SING will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church (937 W. Norton Ave.) led by Hank DeGraff and officiated by Rev. Ken Havert and Rev. Bernie Mulder. VISITATION will be from 3-6 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and one hour prior to his service at Calvin Christian Reformed Church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIALS may be made to Grace Christian Reformed Church or to the American Heart Association. Louis will be laid to rest next to his wife and by his son in Fruitport Cemetery.
