Mr. Louis V. Smith's Obituary
Mr. Louis V. Smith, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Poppen Residence. He was born February 14, 1923 in Muskegon to Hubert and Ida (Schmidt) Smith and lived in the area his entire life. Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He worked over 60 years as a butcher for Hubert H. Smith Packing Company and retired in 1998. On February 23, 1946, he married the former Angeline M. Cordo in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on October 7, 2007. Louis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing and gardening in his spare time. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Gregory L. Smith of Muskegon, Thomas W. (Janet) Smith of Austin, TX, Joseph P. Smith of Norton Shores, Angela M. (Mark) Crandall of Fruitport; 4 grandchildren, Christina (Ryan) Dancz, Amanda Crandall, Scott Smith and Emily Smith; 1 great-grandson, Mark Dancz; 1 sister, Margaret Larson of Muskegon; and 3 sisters-in-law, Margaret Cordo of Spring Lake, Veronica Spaniola of Muskegon and Betty Cordo of N. Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Caryn Smith; his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2012 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100, with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. VISITATION will be held one our prior to the service. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
