Louis L. Tardani's Obituary
Louis L. Tardani, age 94, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Trinity Health – Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on October 27, 1927 to Settimio and Josephine (Schillaci) Tardani and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. On May 9, 1964, he married Louise S. Kordecki at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muskegon Heights and she preceded him in death on December 29, 2017. Louis worked for 39 years at the City of Muskegon and retired as the Water Filtration Plant Superintendent in 1990. This year for Father's Day, his children presented him with a memorial bench at Pere Marquette Park in honor of he and Louise, which touched him deeply. It is placed very near the Water Filtration plant at the south end of the beach. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #706 and the Serra Club of Greater Muskegon. Louis was a Lay Carmelite and was a daily Mass Communicant since 1949. Louis was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Muskegon and served on the Board of Directors for Muskegon Saint Joseph's Federal Credit Union for many years. He was a regular volunteer along with his wife and many siblings at West Michigan Catholic Charities "Loaves and Fishes" food bank as well as serving on the Prison Ministry in Muskegon County, St. Vincent de Paul Charities and faithfully served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. In adoration of our Blessed Virgin Mary, Louis dedicated countless hours making missionary rosaries for many decades. Thousands of these rosaries have been distributed throughout the world. Louis was an avid duck hunter, enjoyed fishing and was an outdoorsman. Survivors include 4 children, Joseph Tardani, Ann (John) Rennells, Kathleen (Charles) Carr, James (Amy) Tardani; 7 grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, Gabriel, Grace, Noah, Liana, Lukas; 1 brother, Sam Tardani; 2 sisters, Ann Marinelli and Linda Kolkema; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings, Martin Tardani, Phillip Tardani, Leonard Tardani, Dick Tardani and Maria Tardani. Visitation will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1715 Sixth Street) at 5-8 PM Thursday, July 7, 2022 beginning with the Rosary at 5:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Phillip A. Sliwinski presiding. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass on Friday at church. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Memorial Fund or to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
