Louise Ellen Beemer's Obituary
Louise Ellen Beemer, age 86, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. She was born on July 25, 1935, to Elmer and Mable (Hulbert) Swagart in St. Johns, MI. Louise graduated from high school in St. Johns in 1953, and then earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1957 and Master’s in Education from Michigan State University in 1962. She taught elementary for 19 plus years in the Grand Rapids area. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church; first at Greenbush UMC, Burton Heights UMC, where she met her husband Ron and led the Children's Choir among other leadership roles, and also Cornerstone Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, drawing, reading, and creating memory books and especially the time spent with family. Louise is survived by her husband, Ronald Beemer; children, Gregg (Barbara) Beemer, Todd (Laurie) Beemer, Rhonda (Timothy) Prater; grandchildren, Danielle (Matt), Blake, Kathryn, Jenna, Lauren Beemer, and Elise Prater; great-grandchildren, Chance, Pierce, Jolene, and Charlie Hoffman; siblings-in-law, Morey (Norma) Beemer, Sandy Zych, Betty Beemer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hortense; brother, Donald (Rosaline) Swagart; sister, Phyllis (Robert) Rice; great-grandson, Nolan Hoffman; and siblings-in-law, Terry Beemer, and Ray Zych. Due to current health concerns, there will be no public services for Louise. A small family graveside service took place on November 24, 2021, at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444.
