Louise R. Carey's Obituary
Louise Rachel Carey, age 91, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015. She was born November 7, 1923 in Cisco, Arkansas to Maynard and Hazel (Arthurhultz) Leach. On January 2, 1943 she married Charles Carey in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1999. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and spending time with family. Louise was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was very active in Maycroft Square Tappers for many years. Louise was a hardworking, strong-willed, loving woman, a doting grandmother and a cancer survivor. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. SURVIVORS include three children: Charles (Jeannine) Carey, Jr., Patrick (Kathie) Carey, and Kristi (Leon) Tabler; six grandchildren: Amy, Lisa, and Inga Carey, Nathan, Kyle, and Rachel Tabler. Several exchange student grandchildren and numerous others who thought she was special and called her Grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers: Robert, Claire and Vernon Leach; and sister, Norma Tazelaar. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, May 7, 2015 and a MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 8, 2015, all at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor C. David Tabler officiating. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS to the American Cancer Society or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church will be appreciated.
