Louise Edwards' Obituary
Ruth Louise Edwards, age 96, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center. She was born February 27, 1920, in Boonville, Missouri, to William R. and Ruth (Tuttle) Scott. She married Archie Leroy “Roy” Edwards on January 25, 1942, in Fulton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2001.
Louise was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven, serving as a deacon, and a member of the Eight Founders Circle. She especially enjoyed winning bridge games, golfing, making yeast rolls, entertaining, and hosting all of her family in her big house on the hill whenever she could. Louise was a firecracker with a heart of gold: she was charming, smart and a tough cookie (you couldn’t even try to tell her no!). Her friends and family, of whom there were many, will miss her every day. We were lucky to have her for as long as we did.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” (David) Johnson of Grand Haven; two sons, Thomas Scott (Ella Rae) Edwards of Moab, Utah, and Joseph Morton (Suzanne) Edwards of Grand Haven; and daughter-in-law, Linda Edwards of Grand Haven; six grandchildren: Tanya (David) Edwards, Eric Edwards, Kirk (Roberta) Edwards, Courtney (Gregory) Ransford, Mandy (Darren) Breen, and Jessica (Dorota) Johnson. She was also a proud “Grandmom-mom” and “Grandma-great” to seven great-grandchildren (who brought back the kids table tradition to many joyful holidays): Ava, Lauren, and Easton Ransford; Aubrey, Elyse Edwards; and Anwen and Karys Breen; She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, William Reid Scott and Thomas Morton Scott and Ella Dee Scott.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Jill VanderWal officiating. Friends may meet the family in the church lounge following the service. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church and Hospice of North Ottawa Community are appreciated. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care Louise was given at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center.
