Mrs. Louise (Wichter) Humphreys' Obituary
Mrs. Louise A. (Wichter) Humphreys, age 83, passed away February 19, 2016. She was born May 16, 1932 to Henry Paul and Julia (Benke) Wichter. Louise graduated from Muskegon High School in 1950. She married James W. Humphreys of Muskegon on August 20, 1954 and raised 3 sons. Louise earned 2 Masters of Art Degrees from Western Michigan University and later became principal of Froebel and Phillips Elementary Schools. Louise was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God Church and she and her husband traveled the world on many, many mission trips. Louise was also part of the Gideon’s auxiliary and enjoyed serving on other church ministries. Louise enjoyed music and time spent with her family. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; 3 sons, James (Luanne) Humphreys of Grand Haven, John (Donna) Humphreys of Twin lake, and Mark (Colleen) Humphreys of Coopersville; 4 grand- daughters, Jenny (Kyle) DeGraves, Linsey (Steve) Penland , Kayla and Jessica Humphreys; and a great- grand child, Grayson; sisters, Shirley Mansfield and Henrietta Ezinga, both of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Carol Wichter of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Henry “Paul” Wichter. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Verne Wright officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). Burial will be made in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made Harbor Hospice.
