Louise E. Yonkers' Obituary
Louise Ellen Yonkers, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 following a brief illness. She was born in Muskegon Heights on September 16, 1933 to George and Lola (Ridgeway) Yonkers. Following her graduation from Muskegon Heights High School in 1951, Louise left to attend Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Kalamazoo where she graduated in 1954. As a registered nurse, Louise worked at Bronson Hospital before serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1962, in San Antonio, Texas. Louise then served in the Alaskan Territory with the Alaska Native Service from 1956-1957 in both Bethel and Anchorage. She retired from Mercy Hospital, Muskegon, in 1986, as a Medical Coding Specialist. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Robert Yonkers; sister, Betty Yonkers; and nephew-in-law, Steve Brock. She is survived by her niece, Lynn Brock; great-nephew, Jason (Angie) Brock; great-great-niece and nephew, Lily and Wyatt Brock; and many cousins and extended family members. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be in the Yonkers family plot at Mona View Cemetery.
