Louis L. Duran's Obituary
Mr. Louis L. Duran, age 83, died early Sunday morning, August 6, 2006 in Grand Rapids. He was born December 13, 1922 in Jerome, AZ to Nicholas and Luz (Diaz) Duran and had lived in the Muskegon area for the past 40 years. Mr. Duran was a U.S. Army Infantry Veteran of WWII. For a few years, he ran the Migrant Education Program of Michigan. He received his BA at the University of Oregon and his MA in 1954, and taught in many different states, including Michigan, prior to his retirement. Mr. Duran loved sports, especially football. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Lincoln) of Norton Shores; 3 daughters, Danielle Duran of Nantucket, MA, Nicole (Mike) Duran Gugat of Washington D.C., Laurie (Lance) Strait of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, David (Audrey) Duran of Modesto, CA, Nick (Charlotte) Duran of Stevensville, MI; sister, Josephine (Tom) Taube of Portage, MI; sister-in-law, Judy Duran of Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, L. Champ Duran. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday at
