Louis R. "Louie" Langlois' Obituary
Mr. Louis Robert “Louie” Langlois, age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. He was born July 17, 1926 in Muskegon Heights, MI to Leo and Helen (Williams) Langlois and was a life resident of the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. Prior to retirement, he worked 22 years for Sealed Power Corp. and retired after 25 years from Langlois Store. On May 28, 1949, he married the former Phyllis Mae Jenkins in Muskegon Heights, and she survives him. Louie was a very strong believer in his Roman Catholic faith. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Distributor. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus, Muskegon Eagles, assisted with the prison ministry for 27 years, 3rd Order of Carmilites, American Legion, and Cursillo. He loved his family, going to sporting events and all events for the grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing with the grandkids. Along with his wife, Phyllis, he is SURVIVED by 10 children, Louis (Anne) Langlois, Jr. of Paw Paw, MI, Patricia Langlois of Roosevelt Park, Theresa (Wayne) Johnson of Waterford, MI, Vincent (Rita) Langlois of Fruitport, Annette (Robert) Judd of North Muskegon, Gregory Langlois of Auburn Hills, MI, Lois (David) Martinez of Norton Shores, Andrew (Anne) Langlois of Grand Rapids, John (Laura) Langlois Auburn Hills, MI, Jeffery (Teresa) Langlois of North Muskegon; 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Raymond (Sandy) Langlois of Muskegon; 3 sisters, Dorothy Moran of Muskegon, Lois Lynch of Norton Shores, and Helen (Monte) Tietsort of North Muskegon; 3 sister-in-laws Jinny Langlois, Gwen Langlois and Kathy Langlois along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Marcella Wibalda, and 4 brothers, Leo, William, Gerald and Robert Langlois and granddaughter Sarah Langlois. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Louie’s family will be 4-7 PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565.
