Lou V. Elema's Obituary
Mrs. Lou Elema, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Thursday morning, May 27, 2004. She was born December 27, 1935 in Apex, CO to Allen & Amert (Culver) Varner and then moved to Muskegon where she has resided most of her life. She was a 1953 graduate of Muskegon High School, a member of New Heart Community Church, the Renovare' Bible Study Group, DeColores and had volunteered for both International Aid and Love, Inc. On May 6, 1955 she married Jack J. Elema and he survives her along with 4 daughters, LuAnn (Dan) Patton of Muskegon, Jayne (Ken) Jones of Covington, LA, Laura (Tom) Peters of Ravenna and Jennifer (Ted) Bolthouse of Muskegon. She was known as “Mama Lou” to her 8 grandchildren, Dani, Conner & Evan Patton, Ashley & Kelsey Jones, Caitlin & Aubree Peters and Nathan Bolthouse. She is also survived by her mother, Amert Varner of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Carol (John) Eberly of Holton and Dee (Jerry) Meyers of Muskegon and by her brother and sister-in-law, Orville & Nelly Elema of Norton Shores. Lou was preceded in death by her son, Jim, in 1974, her granddaughter Nicole Peters and her father, Allen. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at with Pastor Ron Amos, officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday. MEMORIAL GIFTS to the Building Fund of New Heart Community Church will be appreciated.
