Lowell "Tom" Baars' Obituary
Mr. Lowell “Tom” Baars, age 72, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at home. He was born August 19, 1941 in Muskegon to Lowell and Helen (Beals) Baars. He married the former Sandra Kay Sauers on February 8, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2013. Tom and Sandy enjoyed fifty loving years together on earth and are now reunited in heaven.
Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He retired as a Boilermaker Local 169 and was a 3rd Degree Knight and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus 2975 of Grand Haven. He served in the US Army and witnessed the Berlin Wall being erected. He enjoyed antiquing, watching comedies, fishing, going to the casino, playing cards and games, and golfing with his Michigan and Florida friends. Tom most of all loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor.
Tom is lovingly remembered by 2 daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Kartman of Lancaster, WI and Jessica (Jimmy) Kabrovich of Westland, MI; 3 sons: D.J. (Amy) Baars of Sault Ste. Marie, Tom (Terry) Baars, and Eric (Mary) Baars all of Grand Haven; 9 grandchildren; sister, Candy (George) Sadowski; sister-in-law, Susan Sauers; brother-in-law, Dennis Sauers; numerous nieces and nephews and family friend, Janice Grabowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Helen; brother, John and Ken Baars; sister, Beverly Brady.
