Lucille Kuipers' Obituary
Mrs. Lucille Kuipers, age 94, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023. She was born February 4, 1929, in Grand Rapids to Ernest and Mary (De Back) Scheltema. On December 18, 1947, she married Lawrence Kuipers in Grand Haven and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2015.
Lucille was a member of Second Reformed Church, where she was a part of the Martha’s Circle and Women’s Bible League. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 28 Women’s Auxiliary and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed square dancing, camping, sewing and reading, but most of all she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by three daughters: Wanda (Lawrence) Cleveringa, Debra (Edward) DeYoung, Sherry (Marvin) Mingerink; six grandchildren: Larry, and Bill Cleveringa, Laura (Scott) DeVries, Marvin (Jennifer) Mingerink, David (Elisa) Mingerink, Brenda (Ben) Tjapkes; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Button; brothers, John, and Philip Scheltema; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and William Geene; sisters: Nellie Laman, Shirley Kane, and Marian Keway; brothers, William, and Ernest Scheltema.
A funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Second Reformed Church, with Pastor Derek Noorman officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday, March 3, 2023, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417 and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Lucille may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
