Lucille "Lucy" Gladys Hildebrandt's Obituary
On November 2, 2013, a gentle heart stopped beating. Lucille "Lucy" Gladys Hildebrandt also known to many as “Granny” was born on November 20, 1923 to Henry and Bernice VandenBosch. Lucy worked in several bars in the Muskegon area including Hill-Top, Litehouse and Marine Tap for many years. Known to many as their first and favorite bartender. She enjoyed playing “keno” and was an avid and talented crocheter making many doilies and Christmas ornaments that we will cherish always. Lucy had a long, not always easy life. Passing just short of her ninetieth birthday, but never complaining. Leaving to cherish her memory are, her children, Cheryl (Joe) Hammerle, Susan Powles, Betty (Gary) Shackelford, and David (Betty) Bickford; 9 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Rhonda Elrod; 21 great grandchildren, including a special great grandson, Kohl McReynolds; many great great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Gomez, Grace Vanderplow, Betty (Jake) Miller, Patsy (Tim) May; sisters-in-law, Frances VandenBosch and Evelyn VandenBosch. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R.; sons, William H. and Donald L.; sister, Rosemary Mitchell; brothers, Donald, John, and Paul VandenBosch. Gone, but she will never be forgotten. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1pm at the Lakeside Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
