Lumina F. Aerts' Obituary
Lumina F. Aerts, age 90, passed away Saturday morning, May 19, 2018. She was born May 28, 1927 in Muskegon to Edward and Myrtle (Reynolds) Loss. On November 27, 1948, she married Richard E. Aerts in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1998. Devout in her faith, Lumina was one of the earliest members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where, for as long as she was able, she had been in charge of funeral luncheons. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading. Lumina and Dick were avid polka dancers and traveled extensively in pursuit of their passion. SURVIVORS include 2 children: Ronald (Linda) Aerts of Twin Lake, Vicki (Terry) Hoofman of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Nikole (Hoofman) Alzoubi; 4 sisters: Myrtle Johnson, Ursula Kramer, Marie Buttermore, and Roberta Braun; 2 brothers: Edward Loss and Timothy Loss. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with the Rosary prayed at 5:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
