Lusinda (Cindy) Murdaugh's Obituary
Lusinda (Cindy) Murdaugh, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025 (which was her birthday), at Woodland Garden Home in Whitehall, Michigan. Lusinda was born in Helena, Arkansas to Eva Williams Branch and Allen Jackson Sr. on September 14, 1940. She was affectionately called Cindy.
She attended Muskegon Heights Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1959-1960. She later married the love of her life Raymond D. Murdaugh on July 7, 1965. Together they were blessed with one beautiful daughter, Tracy Regina Murdaugh. She worked at Amstore until it closed and then retired from Wesley School.
Lusinda was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church, where she served for many years. She was later led to Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Williams and served as a greeter and missionary until she was no longer able to drive. She then went to Crestwood United Methodist Church, where her son-in-love is Pastor Dwayne A. Riley. She believed the same God was there, as she was a faithful servant of the Lord!
She leaves to cherish beautiful memories of her children: Trent (Barbara) Jackson, Kimberly (Pastor Dwayne Riley), Tracy (Angel) Murdaugh; stepchildren, Sharon and Tony Murdaugh; daughter-in-love, Varnessa Murdaugh, Helen Rae Womack, and a vast array of extended family to include; her very special friend and sister in Christ, Marie Cheatham of Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lusinda is preceded in death by her mother, Eva W. Branch and Father, Allan Jackson Sr.; her husband, Raymond D. Murdaugh; siblings, Allan and Charles Jackson, Florida Mae Dixon; Stepdaughter, Nata Murdaugh; stepson, Michael Murdaugh; nieces, Krystal and Debra Dixon, Priscilla Clanton-Johnson; nephews, Robert Dixon and Donald Ray Robinson Jr.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Lusinda at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Crestwood United Methodist Church (1220 Creston St., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Rev. Dwayne Riley officiating and Repast to follow. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at church from 10-11AM. A special thanks to Harbor Hospice and Woodland Gardens. Memorials can be directed to the American Alzheimer’s Association in Lusinda’s name. Burial will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
