Luster W. "Jack" Terry Sr.'s Obituary
Luster W. “Jack” Terry, Sr., age 72, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022. He was born April 26, 1950 to John Teamer and Judy Terry-Roberts in Covington, TN. Jack, to all those who knew and loved him, was a man of many talents and life experiences. Jack graduated from George R. Ellis High School in Covington, TN. He then enlisted at the age of 17 to serve his country and was trained in field artillery for the United States Army Reserves. He was deployed to Vietnam where he was injured during service and returned home. Following his military career, Jack worked in a Michigan GM plant and finally settled in as the lead custodian for the Pontiac School District where he retired in 2005. Jack loved bowling, traveling, Detroit Sports, watching westerns, listening to jazz and making his own “mix-tapes”. He was a cologne connoisseur and a tremendous cook, who loved to entertain his family and friends.
On August 17th, 1995, he married Lenora “Kitty” Turner, and they remained together until his untimely passing. He was a tremendous husband and father, and left a legacy that will continue with those who knew and adored him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife; his son, Luster (Pam) Terry Jr., step-children, Alexandria (TJ) Turner and Anthony Turner; 4 grandchildren, Ash’ton Hughes, Dezhalon (Oscar) Johnson, Teqwazha Terry, and Dominique Moore; brother, Walter (Karen) Terry, and special cousins, Roy (Rhonda) Smith, and Brenda Heaston, along with a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren that truly loved him. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Teamer and Judy Terry-Roberts; brother, James “Sonny” Terry; sister, Elaine Anderson; daughter, Phaedra “Princess” Terry and son, Patrick Ramone Terry.
The Memorial Service for Jack will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 4944, with Pastor Andre Williams, Jr. officiating. The Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on May 31, 2022 at Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services. Military Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family would like to provide a special thanks to Davita Dialysis, New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, and the Muskegon Public Schools Teaching Association for all of their hard work and efforts during this difficult time.
