Lyle M. Gillette's Obituary
Lyle M. Gillette, age 88, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022. He was born December 25, 1933 in Muskegon to Milton E. and Loretta D. (Hasenbank) Gillette and lived all of his life in the area. Lyle was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had served during the Korean War. On April 26, 1958, he married Patsy Marie Panozzo at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Muskegon. Earlier in his career, he worked at Continental Motors and Brunswick Corporation. He worked as an A & E Mechanic for Sappi Fine Paper for over 25 years and retired in 2000. Lyle was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Patsy M. Gillette; 4 children, Mark (Judy Geneva) Gillette, Brent (Tammy) Gillette, Anne (Steve) Homoly, Traci (Mark) Paseka; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 brother, Keith (Pauline) Gillette; 1 sister, Eleanor Potter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 great-granddaughter and his parents. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 PM Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (495 S. Getty St.) with Rev. Fr. Kyle Kilpatrick presiding. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass at Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Detail and the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
