Lyle E. Robinson's Obituary
Lyle E. Robinson, age 92, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his home. He was born December 7, 1927 in Lansing, MI to Frank and Luella (Cole) Robinson and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. Lyle was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. Lyle worked for a time at General Motors Corp. in Flint, MI at a very early age. He later worked for the S.D. Warren Papermill in Muskegon and retired after 46 years as a Turbine Operator in 1992. On October 27, 1951, he married Joan K. Yarranton in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on January 15, 1998. He later married Edy (Collins) Foster in Muskegon and she survives him. Lyle was a member of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church and was a gold member of Mona Lake Boat Club. He loved cars and trucks and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lyle especially enjoyed the outdoors and snowmobiling even into his 70’s. One of Lyle’s favorite places to visit was the farm in Harbor Springs where he learned at a very young age his work ethic. Survivors include his wife, Edy Foster Robinson; 6 children, Mary (Rodney) Rowe, James Robinson, Paul (Cathy) Robinson, Kathy (Mike) Leighton, Jean (Mark) Swain, Robert (Vicky) Robinson; 5 step-children, Roylynn (Sterling) Wever, Virgle Lynn (Shelly) Foster, David (Vickie) Foster, Phyllis (Gary) Pastor, Jeffery (Melissa) Foster; 2 generations of grandchildren; special nephew, John Yarranton, and special friend, James Cole. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan K. Robinson; 2 children, Steven Robinson and Sharon Alviar; and a grandson, Gary Vanderstelt. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Carl Black officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Detail.
