Lyle C. Stone's Obituary
Lyle was born to Thomas and Okel Stone, at Hackley Hospital, here in Muskegon on April 13, 1932 and passed away on June 16, 2020. With the exception of his military time, Lyle spent his entire life here. Lyle served 14 years in the US Army, during the Korean War. He was extremely proud to be a veteran, rarely seen without his Army ball cap. Over the course of his life, several occupations called; he drove double tankers, hauling fuel for a time, was an Irrigation Engineer, worked at the Paper Mill of course, and ultimately retired from Benteler Automotive. In 1984 he made a decision to quit drinking, smoking, and to take his life in a better direction. After struggling with those changes for a year, he got another call, and turned his life over to GOD. He was thankful for, and blessed by, those three life choices. Lyle’s greatest pleasures came from helping others find their better path to walk. Lyle was very active with his church. While he wouldn't force his beliefs on anyone, he would certainly share if you let him. We were blessed, during this pandemic, that he was able to have a last visit with his children a few days before passing. With Hospice help his sons, Tony and Allen, were with him when he passed. His passing was peaceful, and he wasn’t alone. Lyle was preceded in passing by his daughter Joy (1953), his first wife, Beulah Stone (2013), His second wife, Doris (Mickey) Stone (2007), and his last special love, Valerie Mills (2019). After sharing the last ten years of his life, it’s fitting that he left to join Val on her birthday. It should be really entertaining when they all show up to great him at those Pearly Gates! He is survived by his brother, Carl Stone; sister, Coleen (Stone) Winters; 6 children, Tony (Sandy) Stone, Bonnie (Rob) Duncan, Tom Stone, Allen Stone, Patty (Stone) Lindville, and Mark (Pam) Ware; 3 stepchildren; 18 grandkids; 18 great-grandkids; and one great-great-grandchild. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, June 24 at 11AM at Egelston Twp. Cemetery (5762 Evanston Ave., 49442) with Military Honors rendered. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Please share a memory with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com. Have a good journey Father, and may you watch over us and protect us. GOD Bless Your Journey.
