Mr. Lyle Allen Wilks' Obituary
Mr. Lyle Allen Wilks, age 76, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home. He was born January 13, 1937 in Muskegon to Clyde H. and Thressa (Wiersema) Wilks I and was a life resident of the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Lyle married the former Marlene A. Sheffer in Muskegon on September 16, 1967 and she survives him. He worked 44 years as a machinist at American Coil Spring and retired in 1997. Lyle was as avid hunter and especially was proud to have passed this tradition on to his family. He was a Detroit Red Wings and Tiger Fan and was known to be quite a practical joker to those who were honored to be the target of his shenanigans. Lyle was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he leaves cherished memories for all his family. SURVIVORS include his wife of 45 years, Marlene A. Wilks; 4 sons, Allen (Karen) Wilks, James Wilks, Timothy (Kim) Wilks, Scott (Kathy) Wilks; 3 daughters, Kelly (James) Busch, Janet (fiancé, Britt Miller) Wilks, Betty (Brent) Temple; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Charles (Sara) Wilks, Clyde H. Wilks II, Winston (Betty) Wilks; 4 sisters, Letha (Don) Hildebrandt, Blanche (Ray) McLean, Mary (William) Hoffman, Sharon (Leo) Locrecchio; 2 brothers-in-law, William (Fran) Sheffer, Rodney Byer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Ila Fern Wilks. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Holton United Methodist Church (9530 Holton-Duck Lake Road) with Pastor Jerry Selleck officiating. Military Honors will be offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans in the spring where interment will take place at E. Dalton-Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Thursday at the church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to the Mercy Heart Center. Arrangements handled by
