Lynwood L. "Butch" Mitchell's Obituary
Lynwood Lee “Butch” Mitchell, age 82, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Muskegon, MI. He was born on May 20, 1942, to Melvin and Pauline (Foreman) in Northville, MI. Butch attended Northville High School but left prior to graduating to serve his country in the United States Navy. After the service, he went on to become a heavy equipment mechanic for 40 years. On February 27, 1965, he married Theresa Laney and they were able to spend 55 years together before her passing on April 20, 2020. After Theresa’s passing, Butch found enjoyment in cooking and trying new recipes.
Butch enjoyed golfing and finding time to be in his yard or garden. His version of Family Game Night was not Monopoly but a good Poker game. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings and U of M.
Butch is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Dennis) Daughtery; sons, David (Sueann) Mitchell and Brian (Julie) Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Along with his wife Theresa, he was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brian Scott Mitchell II; and brothers, Robert and Richard Mitchell.
