Mr. M.V. "Mike" Pascavis' Obituary
Mr. M.V. “Mike” Pascavis, age 93 moved on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Heartwood Hospice Home in Ferrysburg, MI in the early morning hours of July 2, 2015. Life for Mike began in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, October 6, 1921 when he was born to Andrew Louis Pascavis and Helen Susan Hurrish. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph E. and Ernest W. Pascavis and one sister, Grace Degraff. He loved life, family, and friends and was fortunate to have the special love of Gladys Mae Fredricksen, whom he married in San Diego, CA on June 16, 1944, and who also preceded him in death in 1989. Mike served in the US Army in WWII from December, 1942 to February, 1946 with the 529th Battalion. Upon his return to Muskegon in 1946, he participated in community organizations over the years. Mike was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and held a number of offices during his active years. Mike held a lifetime membership in the National Society of ASQ-Engineering and was one of the early presidents of the Greater Muskegon Section. He retired in 1988 as V.P. Corporate Quality Director of the Goetze Corporation of America. Following retirement, his passion encompassed restoring and driving antique automobiles and engaging himself in the world of computers. Mike enjoyed being the club photographer and an officer of the Muskegon Portside “A’s”. He also held memberships with the Muskegon Puddle Jumpers and the National Model “A” Restorers Club of America. He is survived by his sons Michael J. (Mary) Pascavis of Rockford, MI, Dr. James M. (Janet) Pascavis of Norton Shores, MI; a daughter Cheryl D. (Dennis) Court of Madison, WI; his grandchildren: Paula Porter, Julie Casebolt, Marc Pascavis, James Pascavis Jr., Lindsay Batka, Jessica Kever, Anna Watson, and Daniel Watson. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A “Celebration of Life” gathering for the family will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contribution to American Heart Association would be appreciated.
