Mrs. Maatje Marcia VanderSluis' Obituary
... I go and prepare a place for you...that you also may be where I am. John 14:3
Maatje(Marcia)VanderSluis went to her prepared place on January 10, 2018. Born in 1924, she survived a hard childhood and the deprivation of wartime Holland. She immigrated to New Jersey, leaving behind family, customs, and language to carve out a new life with her husband and small children. In the United States, she and her husband, Jan (died 2013), also found new life in Jesus Christ, a wonder that far surpasses the educational and financial blessings received in their new land. Marcia died peacefully in her daughter's home in Norton Shores. Surviving are her children, Paulina (the late Richard) Doctor, Dr. Lane (Judith) VanderSluis, Jacqueline (Barry) Larson, 5 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren and family in the Netherlands. Because of winter travel concerns, a memorial service for Marcia will be held April 28, during her birthday weekend.
